Treehaven. The site where my son took his life.

Journal in the Woods refers to a journal I placed at the site where my son took his life. I sought answers to questions about this site that had a tree house and seemed to be a place people were drawn to for solitude and peace.

The entries in the journal were inspiring, healing, and intensely personal. People shared their stories and created a safe place for all to express themselves. The original journal is here, transcribed before it was destroyed by vandals.

I try to make my blog a hopeful place and not one of sadness. My overall goal is to help people who may have isolated themselves because of grief and reach those who feel like they are the only ones experiencing certain thoughts and emotions. Doing so heals us both.

The blog contains a number of posts dealing with the grief process in general, as well as my own experiences with grief. There are also posts discussing mental health resources, the symptoms of depression, and warning signs of suicide.

The section entitled, “What Really Happens When We Die?”  explores the possibility of life after death. This section includes my own experiences with “signs” from my son, scientific articles supporting the idea of life after death, and reviews of books on the subject.
